Speaker Profile

Stewart is EVP for New Systems Execution within SES’s Product & Innovation department, ensuring the delivery of major systems programmes which currently includes SES Open Orbits, a Ka-band platform catered for aviation, next-gen GEO systems and NGSO Relay Services. He is also responsible for SES’s involvement in the Team Aurora consortium and its support of Skynet Delivery Wrap (SDW) for the UK MoD.  Stewart and team recently completed the handover of SES’s second MEO generation constellation system, O3b mPOWER, as well as supporting the delivery of the MEO Global Services (MGS) contract.    

Prior to that, Stewart held the role of CTO of O3b Networks which was later acquired by SES.  He previously worked for SES in management roles including Planning & Procurement for spacecraft, launch vehicles, in-orbit insurance, as well as developing a new Customer Service Delivery function.  Stewart has fulfilled various satellite and payload operations roles for BTI, Intelsat, ICO, New Skies Satellites and SES. While at Intelsat, he was a member of the Intelsat/NASA satellite re-boost mission in 1992.   

Stewart was also instrumental in forming and was founding Chairman of the Space Data Association (SDA), the unique industry data-sharing organisation which won both SSPI and World Space Risk Forum innovation awards in 2012.
